LAW ON OWNERSHIP OF IMMOVABLE PROPERTY APPROVED

NEW COMPANIES’ LAW PUBLISHED
A new Companies’ Law was recently published by means of Law No. 10/2017, of 17 May 2017, which expressly revokes the prior framework approved by Law No. 4/2004, of 21 April 2004. The new Law will become effective 120 days after the date of publication.

OFFSHORE PETROLEUM OPERATIONS REGULATIONS APPROVED
The Offshore Petroleum Operations Regulations (“ROPOF” in the Portuguese-language acronym) were approved by the Council of Ministers through Decree-Law No. 32/2016, of 17 August 2016, have now been gazetted, and will enter into force on 15 November 2016.

NEW COMMERCIAL REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
According to the information provided today by the National Directorate of Registries and Notaries of the Ministry of Justice ("DNRN") and the Registration and Business Verification Service ("SERVE"), as of May 5, 2016 DNRN will no longer perform commercial registration acts relating to companies and/or branches of companies, including those previously registered with DNRN.
