On 19 April 2023, Law No. 11/2023 establishing a new set of workplace safety, health and hygiene measures was published.

Amongst others, the new Law provides for the establishment of a national system for the prevention of occupational hazards, general obligations of employers in matters of safety, health and hygiene at work, including the obligation to promote training on protection and prevention in these matters and for the prevention of occupational hazards and diseases. It also provides for special protection measures for pregnant and breastfeeding workers and minors, and it establishes the activities that are prohibited or conditioned.

Law No. 11/2023 entered into force the day after its publication.
