After several years of discussion and preparation, the new Labor Code has finally been adopted by Law no. 022/2021, of 19 November 2021, which was recently published in the Official Gazette. This Law was published further to the Constitutional Court’s Decision no. 037/CC, of 30 September 2021, which declared that the new Labor Code as compliant with the Gabonese Constitution and redrafted certain provisions thereof.
 
The New Labor Code approves new rules on all main aspects of the employment relationship, notably in relation to the hiring of expatriate employees and regulating remote work, and new types of employment contracts.
 
This new Labor Code revokes the former Labor Code (Law no. 3/94, of 21 November 1994) and its amending statutes.
