Update of Amount Limits on Operations Performed in Payment Systems
By means of Instruction 19/20, of 9 December 2020, the BNA established the limits of amounts for issuing checks, and for carrying out operations on the ATM network and clearing and settlement systems:
- The maximum amount for issuing a standardized check was set at Kz 9,999,999.99, while cheques for higher amounts will not be accepted;
- The maximum daily value of payments made with payment cards was set at Kz 19,999,999.99, per payment card. However, if the payment transaction is carried out for the Ministry of Finance or the National Social Security Institute, the limit is Kz 99,999,999.99;
- The maximum daily cumulative withdrawal amount per payment card at ATMs and automatic payment terminals was set at Kz 60,000.00;
- The maximum daily amount for transfers made by card was set at Kz 5,000,000.00, per payment card;
- The maximum daily value of purchases by payment card at automatic payment terminals was set at Kz 6,000,000.00;
- The maximum amount per transfer operation made using the credit transfer system was set at Kz 19,999,999.99, with the exception of some operations relating to the Ministry of Finance and of some of the National Social Security Institute;
- The maximum amount for operations related to direct debit instructions in the direct debit system was set at Kz 19,999,999.99, per operation;
- It was established that amounts of more than Kz 20,000,000.00 must be transferred using the real-time payment system.
The maximum values of service fees for using the ATM network were also set.
This instruction revoked Instruction 7/2019, of 5 July 2019, and will come into force on 8 January 2021.
