REQUIREMENTS TO ACCESS AND ENGAGE IN THE ACTIVITY OF CREDIT INTERMEDIARY AND THE PROVISION OF CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Decree-Law No. 81-C/2017, of 7 July 2017, approved the legal framework for access to, and engagement in, the activity of credit intermediary and the provision of consultancy services for credit agreements entered into with consumers in Portugal. The Decree-Law partially transposes Directive No. 2014/17/EU, of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 4 February 2014, on consumer credit agreements for residential properties.

Also established is a provisional regime under which natural and legal persons rendering the activity in question may continue to do so for up to 12 months following the entry into force of the Decree-Law, without the need for the authorization set forth therein.

This Decree-Law will enter into force on 1 January 2018.
