Decree-Law No. 80/2017, of 30 June 1987, enacted pursuant to the statutory program SIMPLEX+, has amended the legal framework on installation and operation of tourism facilities, as approved by Decree-Law No. 39/2008. The amendments are aimed at the simplification of the permitting procedures, notably by reducing the number of entities involved in the procedures. The changes affect both the installation of tourism facilities in existing buildings, and the construction of new tourism facilities.

The new statute entered into force on 1 July 2017.
