New rules for the entry and transfer of foreign currency to outside the Country

Through Order No.  6/22, of 3 March 2022, which enters into force on April 2, the National Bank of Angola updated the limits and conditions applicable to the entry and exit of cash (or bearer means of payment) in the country, under the following terms:

  • For foreign exchange resident and non-resident individuals, the entry of amounts equal or superior to USD 10.000 must be reported by filling in a form made available by the customs services.
  • The maximum amounts allowed when leaving the country are:
    • USD 10.000, for foreign exchange residents;
    • USD 1.000, for foreign exchange residents under the age of 18 travelling unaccompanied;
    • equal to the amount of entry into the country, for foreign exchange non-residents, subject to proof of entry of the amount, through the delivery of a duplicate of the entry form, when it is equal or superior to USD 10.000.
