Joint Executive Decree No. 13/24, of December 13, was recently published, carrying out a methodological compilation of all existing professions in the mineral resources, oil and gas sector. The new legislation complements the already old National Classification of Professions, being applicable to all companies operating in this economic sector.

Under this new statute, all companies pertaining to the mineral resources, oil and gas sector must:

• Adopt the designations contained in the new list of professions for all job positions existing in their workforces;
• All advertisements or job offers must also immediately use the designations contained in the new list of professions, without prejudice to the concurrent use of the company's internal terminology;
• Existing job qualifiers remain in force, nonetheless any amendment or approval of new instruments must already be carried out using the terminology contained in the new list of professions;
• Companies must use the new terminology of the professions in all their interactions with authorities from the mineral resources, oil and gas sector, especially for the purposes of Human Resources Development Plans. Any registration with data not included or contravening the new list of professions shall be null and void.

This new statute came into force on 14 December 2024.
