Presidential Decree No. 155/16, of 9 August 2016, on the legal framework of domestic work and domestic services employee´s social protection, has just been published and shall come into force on 9 December 2016.
This new legal framework finally established the rules on (i) the domestic employment contract, (iii) temporary assignment of domestic services employees, and (iii) the regime for social protection applicable to a domestic service employee.
We highlight the obligation to register the domestic employment contract with the National Institute for Social Security at the time of employee’s enlistment. This type of contract may be entered into full-time or part-time, for a fixed or unlimited term, and provide for a probation period of up to 60 days.
