Law No. 40/20, which came into force on 16 December 2020, repealed Law No. 5/05, of 29 July 2005, and established the legal regime applicable to the oversight, regulation, management and operation of the Payment System of Angola, aimed at ensuring the fulfillment of public interest objectives. The new law provides for the process of setting up institutions involved in the Payment System of Angola, engagement in that activity, the supervision of said institutions, and the intervention process and penalty regime.
