The President of the Republic enacted Presidential Decree No. 133/26 of 6 August, approving the new Special Co-Insurance Regimes, its organisation and operating rules, thereby introducing a mandatory risk-sharing mechanism for certain risks inherent to strategic sectors of the economy.
The Decree makes co-insurance mandatory for the oil and gas, mining and civil aviation sectors, and further extends this regime to certain public infrastructure projects and specific large-scale insurance lines, (including engineering, industrial all-risks, marine hull, construction and erection all-risks and fire and natural perils), where the insured amount is equal to or exceeds USD 20 million.
The Decree entered into force on 6 August 2026.
