New BNA rules applicable to financial institutions for depositing and withdrawing cash

Under Instruction No. 06/2019, of 5 July 2019, which will enter into force on 5 August 2019, the National Bank of Angola (BNA) established a new schedule for depositing cash and withdrawing it from the BNA’s Vaults, namely in the Province of Luanda, in the Bank’s Regional Branches, and in duly authorized Custody of Securities establishments, as well as the terms and conditions related to the schedule. This Instruction applies to banking financial institutions (Banks) authorized to deposit and withdraw cash from the BNA’s Vaults.
 
Deposit and withdrawal operations may be executed under the following conditions:  


a. Banks are permitted to make a maximum of 3 deposits and 3 withdrawals per week;

b. The schedule for such operations is from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., without interruption;

c. Packages with amounts to be deposited by the Banks with 10,000 notes of equal face value;

d. For deposit purposes at the headquarters of the BNA, a minimum of 10 packages only, each containing 10,000 notes, is permitted;

e. In the case of the Regional Branches and Custody of Securities establishments, the minimum quantity is 2 packages of 10,000 notes.

Deposit and withdrawal operations must be communicated on the Pre-Notice Management Portal of the BNA (“Portal de Gestão de Pré-Avisos do Banco Nacional de Angola”), 24 hours prior to the relevant scheduled date.
