NATIONAL POLICY ON COMPENSATORY MEASURES APPROVED

Following the enactment of the legal regime on mandatory compensatory measures (Law No. 20/16, of 29 December 2016), the Government has further approved the National Policy on Compensatory Measures by means of Presidential Decree No. 4/17, of 26 January 2017 (“Presidential Decree 4/17”).

 

The National Policy on Compensatory Measures reflects concrete guidance and defines the goals to be set by public entities entering into goods and services agreements with contractors, which are required to comply with said mandatory compensatory measures. Presidential Decree 4/17 further details different types of compensatory measures to be provided in the fields of technology, industry, commerce and investment.

 

With the approval of the National Policy on Compensatory Measures, the Government aims at boosting the diversification of the national economy, in order to guarantee its competitiveness and sustainability and to improve the quality of life in Angola.

 

Presidential Decree 4/17 has entered into force on the date of gazetting.
