LICENSING ROUND FOR EIGHT OIL & GAS BLOCKS IN CAMEROON

The National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH) of Cameroon has recently announced the terms of reference for the Licensing of eight (8) oil & gas blocks: BOMANA, BOLONGO and BAKASSI in the hydrocarbons’ rich Rio del Rey (RDR) Basin, and ETINDE EXPLORATION, NTEM, ELOMBO, TILAPIA and KOMBE/NSEPE in the highly prospective Douala/Kribi-Campo (DKC) Basin.

 

As a result of this Licensing Round the State intends to negotiate and conclude Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) with the successful bidders, over one or several of the available blocks.

 

The BOMANA (223.3 km2), BOLONGO (391.5 km2), ETINDE EXPLORATION (1,698 km2), TILAPIA (3,874.9 km2) and ELOMBO (2,405 km2) Blocks, located Offshore, are close to existing Oil & Gas producing fields and installations.

 

The NTEM Block (2,319 km2) is also located Offshore, with a Water Depth greater than 500m.

 

Finally, the KOMBE/NSEPE (3,026 km2) and BAKASSI (736.9 km2) Blocks are located Onshore (Transition Zone).

 

All the eight Blocks will be licensed for an initial exploration period of up to five years, renewable twice for 2-year periods.Any company seeking to secure a PSC in Cameroon will have to fulfill the conditions provided under the Petroleum Code as stipulated by Law n° 99/013, including technical and financial specifications.

 

The relevant data is available for interested companies as from January 15th, 2018.
