By means of Decree-law No. 36/2017, of 17 August 2017, the Government approved the Legal Framework for Securitisation. This statute sets forth the rules applicable to the assignment of credits for purposes of securitisation, as well as the incorporation and operation of (i) credit securitisation funds, (ii) credit securitisation companies and (iii) management companies of those funds.

The new rules apply to all assignments of credits for purposes of securitisation where the assignee is a credit securitisation fund or a credit securitisation management company.

This Decree-law entered into force on 18 August 2017.
