Law No. 103/VIII/2016, of 6 January 2016, introduced the first amendment to Law No. 14/VIII/2012, of 11 June 2012, which enacted the legal framework for national regulatory authorities, with the exception of the Bank of Cape Verde, which is subject to special legislation.

Among the amendments introduced one should point out new accounting norms, as well rules relating to remuneration committees. These entities will be subject to monitoring by the Audit Court and will be subject to civil, criminal, financial and disciplinary liability.
