Increase in Social Security Pensions and New Sustainability Indicator
On 17 July, Presidential Decree no. 151/24 was also published and entered into force, approving a raise on various social security pensions and a new Sustainability Indicator for the Compulsory Social Protection System, as follows:
- The year-on-year change in the operating result of the National Social Security Institute is established as an indicator, as is the maximum limit for the increase in expenditure on benefits for the Financial Year of 2023;
- This indicator is applied according to the principle of positive differentiation, with the value of the minimum pension being updated by 45.012%, the maximum pensions by 20% and others between these two limits by 25%;
- The minimum amount of the Old Age Pension is set at AOA 70,000.00;
- The maximum amount of all pensions is set at AOA 729,448.80;
- Old-age pensions, living pensions, disability pensions and old-age allowances above the minimum amount and below the maximum amount are subject to a 25% increase;
- Salary and proof of payment attesting to the legal guarantee period for access to benefits, as well as the registration of declarations of length of service, due to the insured person's employment, must be submitted electronically.
