After the formal resignation of the Prime Minister and remaining members of the Government on 31 January 2023, the President of the Republic enacted Decree No. 43/2023, dated 31 January 2023, appointing Ms. Manuela Roka Botey as the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. Ms. Botey succeeds Mr. Francisco Pascual Obama Asue and becomes the first woman to be appointed as Prime Minister in Equatorial Guinea.
On the same date, the President of the Republic also enacted Decrees No. 44/2023, 45/2023 and 46/2023, reappointing the First, Second and Third Vice Prime Ministers.
The remaining members of the Government were appointed by Presidential Decree No. 47/2023, dated 2 February 2023. The list of the new members brings some key changes, such as the replacement of the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons and the Minister of Justice, Cult and Penitentiary Institution as well as the creation of new Ministries, such as Ministry of Finance and Budget and Ministry of Planning and Economic Diversification (which resulted from the split of the previous Ministry of Finance, Economy and Planning).
