COVID-19: State of Emergency and Further Measures Announced
The Ivorian President has declared the State of Emergency and announced further measures to fight the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country:
- All restaurants are closed as of 24 March 2020 (this measure follows the closure of bars, nightclubs, cinemas and other places of entertainment);
- A curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. has been imposed as of 24 March, and will be in place until further notice;
- Unauthorized travel between Abidjan and other cities is prohibited and interurban public transportation is regulated;
- Depending on the evolution of the pandemic, the population shall be progressively contained by geographic area;
- To help people and communities who require urgent assistance, humanitarian corridors are to be created;
- The capacity of the pharmaceutical industry, laboratories and diagnostic/care structures throughout the national territory will be strengthened;
- Public health authorities are granted broad powers for the early detection, rapid management and confidential isolation of patients;
- A call center and an alert system dedicated to Covid-19 are put in place.
