New public calamity measures were enacted by Presidential Decree No. 119/21, of 8 May 2021. The new statute amends and updates the rules established by Presidential Decree No. 106/21, of 28 April 2021, on the prevention and control of SARS-COV-2 virus and COVID-19 and the functioning of public and private services, social equipment and economic activities during the period of public calamity. The measures will remain in force until 23h59 of 8 June 2021.
 
The evolution of the pandemic led to the implementation of additional restrictions, notably on opening hours and occupancy levels of public and private places, commerce and restaurants.
