COVID 19: Newly Updated Public Calamity Measures

The measures to prevent and control the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as the rules for the functioning of public and private services, social facilities and activities during the period of public calamity, were updated by Presidential Decree No. 72/22, of 31 March 2022, which revoked Presidential Decree No. 64/22, of 25 February 2022.

Considering the significant improvement of the epidemiological situation in the country, some of the stricter measures approved by the prior statute were revoked. The use of a mask on the streets is no longer mandatory, except in gatherings of more than 10 people. The civic duty to stay at home is no longer foreseen.

It is no longer mandatory to provide a SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test for traveling abroad, except if required by the country of destination. However, SARS-CoV-2 testing is recommended for anyone traveling abroad. For domestic flights, it is mandatory to provide a full-dose vaccination certificate or SARS-CoV-2 test with a negative result performed within the previous 48 hours and to use a face mask throughout the flight.

The set of measures will be in force until 15 May 2022.
