Côte d’Ivoire – COVID-19 Measures Announced
In Côte d’Ivoire, the President has just announced measures to fight the spreading of Coronavirus (COVID19) in the country. Accordingly, during 15 days starting on 16 March (up and until 1st April), all non-Ivorians arriving from any country with more than 100 confirmed cases of COVID19 will be barred from entering the country and any suspected cases from other countries will be quarantined upon arrival. There are also additional health tests and controls being imposed immediately at all borders (land, air and sea).
In addition, behavioral/social measures are being imposed to all residents. For instance, each person is required to keep a distance of at least one (1) meter from others in public spaces, and handshakes and hugs are prohibited, as well as the consumption of bush meat.
Schools, night clubs, cinemas and performance venues are also closed until 1st April, and any gatherings of more than 50 people and sports and cultural events are prohibited during this period.
