The competition law has just been published in the Official Gazette. Law No. 5/18, of 10 May 2018, will henceforth serve as basis for the regulation of a market economy with the inclusion, for the fist time, of competition parameters.

A number of important provisions for the practical application of the law is subject to further regulations to be enacted by the President of the Republic, notably on the setting up of the Competition Authority and on the scope and specific procedures related with the control of concentrations, notably the thresholds above which notification will be mandatory.
