ANGOLA DEPOSITS INSTRUMENT OF ACCESSION TO THE NEW YORK CONVENTION
On March 6, 2017 Angola deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (New York Convention) with the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The referred instrument, required under Angolan law, had been issued by the President of the Republic through the Letter of Accession dated 5 December 2016, following the approval of the New York Convention by the Angolan National Assembly in August 2016.
The New York Convention will come into force in Angola ninety (90) days after the referred deposit, that is, on June 4, 2017, and Angola will thus become the 157th Contracting State.
