The Portuguese Government approved, through Decree-Law no. 10-A/2020, of 13 March 2020, several exceptional and temporary measures that will have an impact in companies’ operation during the epidemiological situation caused by the new Coronavirus - COVID 19.

Amongst those measures, it was approved to extend until 30 June 2020, on an exceptional basis, the deadline for the holding of general meetings of companies (as well as of associations and cooperatives) imposed by law or statute.

Even though not expressly set out in the Decree-Law, this extension allows companies to benefit from a longer period for the holding of their annual general meetings, i.e., to resolve on the annual accounts of 2019 (individual accounts and, whenever applicable, consolidated accounts).
