Additional Preventive Measures to Contain the Outbreak of COVID-19
As the number of COVID-19 cases increases, the Prime Minister enacted a new Order, dated 23 March 2020, widening preventive measures, which were communicated to the population yesterday:
- All national and foreign citizens are to remain at home and displacements are only authorized to perform work, purchase essential goods and for medical reasons;
- Private vehicles are only allowed to circulate for the above reasons with a maximum of 2 persons per vehicle;
- Transportation by public bus is forbidden;
- Taxis can only carry 1 passenger at a time;
- Buses owned by private companies can only carry 2 passengers at a time;
- The Ministry of Homeland may restrict circulation at specific roads or locations;
- All bars must close, except for those with cooked meals;
- Casinos and similar business must close;
- Restaurants and canteens may remain open but can only serve 10 individuals at a time;
- Citizens who arrived after 1 March 2020 and were not placed in quarantine must contact the health authorities.
