Leading Lisbon-based international law firm Miranda & Associados (Miranda) has announced the addition of João Rosado Correia as a partner. He joins from Garrigues in Lisbon where he was Head of Public Law, Energy and Environment and is regarded one of Portugal’s pre-eminent energy and projects lawyers.

At Miranda, João joins the Energy and the Public Law and Regulatory practice teams and will maintain his focus international energy, procurement and project finance matters, including public-private partnerships and environmental law issues.

According to Diogo Xavier Da Cunha, Miranda’s Managing Partner, “the addition reflects the growing profile and sophistication of the firm’s energy, projects and infrastructure practice”.

João is without a doubt a leading energy and projects lawyers and has over 25 years’ experience. He brings with him a wealth of expertise which we believe will add to and supplement the firm’s existing capabilities particularly in the international energy markets, where we are increasingly active in projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Asia”.

For João Rosado Correia, joining the Miranda team presents new practice and client possibilities:

Miranda is renowned for the depth of its cross border expertise and especially so in the oil, gas and energy sectors. The firm has been active internationally for 30 years and through the Miranda Alliance is present in many of the most exciting and fastest-growing markets, notably Angola, Mozambique and the Francophone countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. These are markets in which international clients want guidance not only on how to operate locally but also to benefit from regional experience and expertise. Miranda is uniquely placed in this regard and for me the offer to join the firm is the right challenge at the right time”.

João Rosado Correia was a partner at Garrigues Portugal since 2008 and previously a partner at Rui Pena, Arnaut & Associados (2002-08). His arrival at Miranda brings the total number of partners at the firm to 20.
